Central Tour de Thailand 2011 Itinerary
Kanchanaburi to Hua Hin – 280 miles / 440 kms
We recommend riders arrive a little early to Kanchanaburi to enjoy the many tourist attraction in he area. There are plenty of other things to do, and we will be more than happy to help you find what it is you are looking for.
If participants would like to arrive early or extend their stay in Thailand or surrounding countries the Tour de Asia Bicycle Touring Co., Ltd. will be happy to make suggestions and can help make arrangements if needed.
Day 1 - Arrive in Kanchanaburi
Date: Tuesday November 15
Meals: Dinner
All riders for the Central section must be in Kanchanaburi by today in order to join the ride on time. We will meet you during the day at the hotel and invite everyone to dinner, as we say goodbye to some of the Northern section riders that are leaving us.
Day 2 - Day Off in Kanchanaburi
Date: Wednesday November 16
Meals: Breakfast
There are many sights to see and activities to choose from in Kanchanaburi on a Day Off like the Bridge Over The River Kwai, World War II Cemeteries, River Kwai boat trips, Waterfalls, War Museums, Elephant Trekking, Historic Train Rides, and more.
Day 3 - Kanchanaburi to Suphan Buri
Date: Thursday November 17
Meals: Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner
Distance: 63 miles / 100 kms
We will start the Central Section with a country road ride over to Suphan Buri where we will tour the modern observation tower with a panoramic view of the town and surrounding countryside.
Day 4 - Suphan Buri to Ayutthaya
Date: Friday November 18
Meals: Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner
Distance: 42 miles / 67 kms
This is a really short and sweet ride into one of Thailand's former capitals - Ayutthaya. You will be amazed as we enter the city that is built around historic ruins that date back hundreds of years.
Day 5 - Day Off in Ayutthaya
Date: Saturday November 19
Meals: Breakfast
We recommend taking a break from the bikes and getting a taxi to Bang Pa-In to visit the Royal Summer Palace and enjoy lunch. Then come back to Ayutthaya to take a break from the afternoon sun in the hotel pool before going to visit the many temples of the former Thai capital from 1350 – 1767.
Day 6 - Ayutthaya to Bangkok
Date: Sunday November 20
Meals: Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner
Distance: 52 miles / 84 kms
We will be joined by many local cyclists today as well as blind cyclists from the Foundation for the Blind in Thailand as we take the small back roads on the other side of the Chao Praya River towards Bangkok and cross the river to Pak Kret to wiggle our way over to the Skills Development Center for the Blind in Thailand where we will have a few snacks, liquid refreshments, before we catch a cruise down into Bangkok.
Day 7 - Bangkok - Transfer to Amphawa
Date: Monday November 21
Meals: Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner
Distance: 20 miles / 32 kms
To escape the traffic of Bangkok we will transfer out to Amphawa where we will check in to our hotel and head out on a scenic little ride around the town of Amphawa before going to dinner and taking a boat ride to see the fireflies and unique system of klongs and rivers that the province is know for.
Day 8 - Amphawa to Petchaburi
Date: Sunday November 22
Meals: Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner
Distance: 47 miles / 75 kms
Visit a Royal Palace of King Rama IV called Phra Nakhorn Khiri, take the cable car to the scenic mountain-top palace and temple. This was another summer palace that held many parties for the royal family and foreign dignitaries.
Day 9 - Petchaburi to Hua Hin
Date: Wednesday November 23
Meals: Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner
Distance: 56 miles / 91 kms
Enjoy the lovely beach town that is home to His Majesty the King. Visit the Royal Train Depot, shop at the Night Market, or simply enjoy the beach. Lunch will be on Cha Am Beach before we reach Hua Hin and Dinner will be at a nice little seafood restaurant in the center of the Night Market to welcome the Southern Section riders and say goodbye to any Northern or Central riders that may be leaving us from Hua Hin.
Day 10 - Personal Glory
Date: Thursday November 24
Meals: Breakfast
Total Distance: 280 miles / 440 kms
We say goodbye and continue with the riders who are completing the Southern Thailand de Thailand.
